Focus on problem solving with passion - The Open Dreams Community | Joyce Temkeng

When I moved to Ghana for my studies at the African Science Academy for girls, I encountered inspiring youth communities driving positive change in their local areas through projects in business, health, engineering, and social sciences. Their dedication made me wonder if such communities existed in Cameroon—until my friend Agatha Suzie (an Open Dreams Scholar) introduced me to Open Dreams. I was instantly inspired by the community’s commitment to advancing education for community impact. Open Dreams does more than equalizing access to educational opportunities; the organization brings together passionate individuals worldwide, united by a mission to innovate, create, and solve problems.

One aspect that I find truly remarkable about Open Dreams is the active role parents play in the community. Unlike the common belief that change should solely be the responsibility of the youth, the Open Dreams parents are fully engaged in the process. They recognize the significance of participating in change, regardless of age. This collective commitment allows them to reshape narratives in various fields, including health, business, road safety, youth empowerment, and entrepreneurship. Thanks to the passionate parents at OD, I got inspired to not le any social barrier stop me from achieving my goals.

Overall, I do believe that another unique aspect of the Open Dreams community is the transformative nature of the conversations between its members. In a world where many, particularly in Cameroon, are often caught in cycles of complaints, the Open Dreams community stands out for its focus on problem-solving with passion. These conversations have shifted my perspective, teaching me to view every challenge as an opportunity to learn, not a reason to complain.

Reflecting on how these discussions have been profoundly transformative, I am filled with gratitude for every member of the Open Dreams community, celebrating their role in my journey.

I'm very much please with the activities of the OPENDREAMS, and I appreciate you all for assisting in building our community for a better tomorrow.

I have recommended many of my students to participate in many offers from opendream and they've excelled.

I wish that opendream should not relent it's efforts in helping the youths in particular to give them a brighter future.

Thanks to opendream.
