I recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in a stimulating fireside chat with Mekila Ngwambe, the innovative founder and CEO of Sunsave Solutions. Mekila’s remarkable academic journey, which spans from the Catholic University of Cameroon through the University of Edinburgh to Tsinghua University, combined with his experience as a former UK Government Affairs Consultant for Global Citizen, showcases his exceptional leadership potential. His insights and experiences captivated everyone and set the tone for a truly enlightening discussion.
One of the most compelling points Mekila raised was the distinction between mere idea conception and true entrepreneurship. He highlighted that not everyone who conceives an idea is an entrepreneur; rather, those with a clear vision truly embody the entrepreneurial spirit. Mekila explained that the collaboration often seen among co-founders results from the recognition that entrepreneurs bring varied perspectives and strengths to the table, fortifying their ventures to navigate the intricacies of business.
Mekila’s insights were particularly crucial for those interested in entrepreneurship in Cameroon, where challenges are inevitable. He encouraged us to take quick actions upon our business ideas, asserting that “if you have an idea, start it—keep going, don’t stop.” These words later matched with his statement “for you to know what you want to do, do something.”
In sharing his journey, Mekila revealed his obstacles, including a financial setback of 1,000 pounds when launching Sunsave Solutions. This was not just a reminder that setbacks are part of the entrepreneurship journey but also improved his experience.
His message was clear: entrepreneurship is a path filled with challenges, but the rewards are invaluable for those who dare to embark on it. Mekila’s words serve as an inspiring rallying cry to all aspiring entrepreneurs—embrace your vision, make the move, and relentlessly pursue your goals.
Let us take these insights to heart and build our paths in entrepreneurship!
