A letter to my mentee! | Ngolefac Emmanuel

Dear most cherish mentee,

I trust this message finds you well. I stayed up late his late meditating on how I will make this write up simple and comprehensible.

You see, it is one thing to be alive and another thing to live. Many people around are only “EXISTING” but not “LIVING”! I know you may be wondering at this point the difference. Yeah, people who live for themselves are exiting while people who live for others are LIVING! When you live to impact, encourage, support and inspire others, you are alive but when you live for yourself, you are alone, dead and better still EXISTING!

Mohamed Ali said, “Service to others is paying your rent for your room here on earth". So, if you will live long, serve others. Be a servant leader, look for a way and a place to add value, to serve.

Marriane Williams said “In every community there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart, there is a power to do.”

Why am I saying all these?

You will soon be applying for admissions and scholarships and admission officers will love to know you beyond your academic qualifications: that is, your leadership qualities, your extracurricular activities and most especially how you have been engaging in your community.

Engage now, explore avenues where you can volunteer. Look for an NGO like Open Dreams, Talk Pregnancy with Dr Noella, Community Vision Group, Nkwangtech Foundation, IC3 Movement, The Urega Foundation Brandway Academy - BRAC - Page and a host of others to volunteer. This will not only empower you, build your profile but it will expand your network and open more doors for you. Look for a place to serve!

There’s more to say but for now, take this to heart. #BeADoer!

I love you so much!
